Gumlet

Video hosting, the player, piracy protection and viewer analytics on one subscription — all three paid plans include the same 3,000 GB of streaming, from $6 a month billed yearly, and what changes with the tier is the overage rate.

Rating
4.1 4.1 out of 5
Starting price $9 per month billed monthly, or $6 a month billed yearly ($72 a year) — that is Creator; the top video plan, Business, is $149 monthly or $99 billed yearly
Free trial No

Pros

  • The free plan is genuinely free rather than a trial: 60 storage minutes, 100 GB of streaming a month, 60 minutes of live streaming, with 4K and HDR10, an ad-free player, password protection and geo-blocking, no card and no stated expiry — so a small site can run real playback before paying anything
  • The yearly discount survives division: $9 to $6, $29 to $19 and $149 to $99 are 33.3%, 34.5% and 33.6%, consistent with the badge's up to 35% — commit for a year and the same allowance costs about a third less
  • Video hosting, the player, the CDN, AI subtitles, viewer analytics, live streaming and piracy protection live in one account, so you are not stitching a CDN to a player to a captioning tool; the integration list covers Zapier, Pabbly, Zoom, S3, Google Drive, Dropbox and iFramely, oEmbed and Embedly
  • 4K and HDR10 are available on every tier including the free one, which is rare at this price: Cloudflare Stream explicitly re-encodes HDR uploads and delivers them in SDR
  • The protection toolkit is complete: dynamic watermarking, geo and domain blocking, signed URLs and expiring access tokens, plus Widevine and FairPlay DRM as a separate purchase — course and membership content does not need a second vendor to be protected
  • The overage rate falls as you move up rather than rising ($0.15 to $0.10 to $0.06 per GB), so heavier bandwidth users are rewarded for upgrading instead of penalised — on the yearly prices, moving from Creator to Growth pays for itself above roughly 3,260 GB a month, and to Business above roughly 5,000 GB
  • The exit terms are unusually generous: the billing docs promise a 30-day no-questions-asked full refund, you can cancel at any time with service running to the end of the cycle, and after cancelling your videos stay in the dashboard so you can download them or reactivate
  • The data and AI position is stated in both the terms and the FAQ: customer content is not used to train generative AI models, third-party LLM calls opt out of training, and analytics collection can be switched off in settings
  • AI usage is transparent metered rather than a black box: $1 equals 1,000 credits, subtitles cost 10 credits a minute, translation 5 a minute per language, chapters and descriptions 5 a minute each, the docs publish worked examples, and only successful operations are charged

Cons

  • The plan price is not the bill: all three paid tiers include the same 3,000 GB a month, so upgrading buys storage minutes, seats, live minutes and features plus a cheaper overage rate ($0.15 to $0.10 to $0.06 per GB). Budget from your bandwidth, not from the number on the card
  • Storage is a hard ceiling on the cheaper tiers: Free, Creator and Growth have no storage overage to buy at all, and only Business can add it at $3 per 1,000 minutes a month up to 200,000 minutes — while the billing docs describe storage as measured continuously rather than reset monthly, which is a peak measure, not an average. Custom domains are another $5 a month each
  • Gumlet gives two answers to what a storage minute is: the pricing FAQ says it counts only the original upload and not transcoded versions, while the billing docs list encoding at multiple resolutions as a common cause of unexpected overage, with each rendition counting toward storage. Ask support which rule applies before sizing a 4K library
  • DRM is a $99-a-month add-on, and the docs say FairPlay credentials are for enterprise accounts only and take 7 to 10 working days, while DRM is applied during processing — an existing library is unprotected until each video is reprocessed. Confirm FairPlay eligibility on a self-serve plan before paying
  • Images are a second subscription, and that subscription's discount badge is wrong: Image Growth and Business read 17.9% and 23.2% off, not the advertised 25%, and Image Business at $199 a month billed yearly costs twice the top video tier. Video plus images means two bills
  • Real problems appear in the user record: AppSumo carries 49 reviews at 4.43 average but about 14% are one or two stars, with recurring reports of a January 2025 update breaking embedded playback (offline for more than 12 hours across sites), slow uploads and support taking hours to days; one long-term user notes most site builders only offer Vimeo or YouTube embed fields, so Gumlet means pasting HTML. The uptime SLA's only remedy is a 5-day extension and the free plan is excluded from it

Pricing

Free

$0 free forever, no card required

  • 60 storage minutes, 100 GB of streaming a month, 60 minutes of live streaming a month, 1 seat, with 4K and HDR10, an ad-free player, password protection and geo-blocking
  • The vendor states it is not a trial and is free forever; bandwidth overage is still billed at $0.50 per GB, and an overage invoice raised on the free plan is voided if you upgrade before the billing cycle ends
  • Only 60 storage minutes, and free-plan accounts are excluded from the 99.9% uptime SLA

Creator

$9 per month billed monthly, or $6 a month billed yearly at $72 a year

  • 1,000 storage minutes, 3,000 GB of streaming a month, 1,000 minutes of live streaming a month, 2 seats, 2 workspaces
  • Remove Gumlet branding, API and MCP access, domain restriction, Google and Meta pixel tracking; bandwidth overage is $0.15 per GB
  • There is no storage overage to buy: when the allowance runs out you upgrade. That ceiling is shared by all three paid plans

Growth

$29 per month billed monthly, or $19 a month billed yearly at $228 a year

  • 3,000 storage minutes, 3,000 GB of streaming a month, 2,000 minutes of live streaming a month, 5 seats, and bandwidth overage down to $0.10 per GB
  • CRM integrations, a channel custom domain, private channel subscriptions, AI chapters and descriptions
  • The streaming allowance is identical to Creator's — the extra money buys storage, seats, live minutes and features, not more bandwidth

Business

$149 per month billed monthly, or $99 a month billed yearly at $1,188 a year

  • 15,000 storage minutes, 3,000 GB of streaming a month, 4,000 minutes of live streaming a month, 10 seats, and bandwidth overage at $0.06 per GB
  • The only tier that can buy storage overage: $3 per 1,000 minutes a month up to 200,000 minutes. Also dynamic watermarking, custom viewer analytics, H.265 and VAST ad tags, priority live chat
  • On the published yearly prices and overage rates, Business only becomes the cheaper way to buy bandwidth above roughly 5,000 GB a month

Image (a separate subscription)

$39 Image Growth is $39 a month or $32 billed yearly; Image Business is $259 a month or $199 billed yearly

  • Images are a separate subscription from video: Free gets 30 GB of bandwidth ($0.50 per GB overage), Growth 300 GB ($0.15), Business 2,500 GB ($0.08)
  • Gumlet does not store images: originals stay in your own S3, GCS or similar bucket and Gumlet only transforms and delivers them. Image processing requests are unlimited on every tier
  • The billing toggle's Save 25% badge does not hold on Growth or Business: the yearly discounts read first-hand are 17.9% and 23.2%

Enterprise

Custom quoted by the vendor

  • Custom storage and CDN, uncapped live streaming, SSO, a dedicated account manager, SOC 2, ISO and GDPR compliance material, DRM included, custom AI credits
  • A published 99.9% uptime SLA: below 99.9% earns a 5-day plan extension, claimed by email with logs within 10 days, and free-plan accounts do not qualify
  • On paid tiers DRM is a $99-a-month add-on (100,000 views included, then $1 per 1,000 views), and the docs say FairPlay credentials are issued to enterprise accounts only

Who it is for

  • Course creators and membership learning teams that want the player, protection, dynamic watermarking and viewer analytics on one subscription, adding DRM at $99 a month when they need it
  • Anyone whose streaming stays inside 3,000 GB a month, where Creator or Growth billed yearly ($6 and $19 a month) is the cheapest real plan here
  • Projects that must deliver 4K or HDR10, which Cloudflare Stream cannot: it re-encodes HDR to SDR
  • Buyers who want to prove playback with real traffic first, since the free plan is permanent, needs no card and already includes password protection and geo-blocking
  • Heavy bandwidth users above roughly 6,250 GB a month, where Business's $0.06 per GB is the lowest overage rate of the three paid tiers
  • Teams that need video and image optimisation together and will accept two bills — the image side has a free audit tool that measures your own pages first
  • Startups and non-profit organisations, which the vendor discounts: up to 50% off for startups and free or discounted plans for non-profits

Alternatives

Brazilian video hosting from $17.90 a month with forensic DRM watermarking, an anti-download player and AI built into the player — the AI metered separately at US$0.20 a credit.

4.1 4.1 out of 5
Starting price: $17.90 per month for Bronze on the dollar price list; there is no annual plan, and instead of a free tier there is a 14-day trial capped at 100 GB of bandwidth

Best for: Course and infoproduct sellers who have had material pirated and need forensic watermarking plus an anti-download player rather than a general-purpose host — note that anti-download starts at Gold

Captions in 95 languages from $8 a month billed yearly, with a free tier that needs no card, 120 credits and a $1.99 seven-day plan. The credit rate card is published: captions run at 2 credits a minute.

4.1 4.1 out of 5
Starting price: $0 the free tier is real but capped at 1 minute per video; paid plans start at $8/month billed yearly ($9.99 monthly) for Pro, and there is a $1.99 seven-day offer in the vendor's own price data

Best for: Creators who caption a lot of video in one language and want the cheapest documented route to it - $8 a month billed yearly works out at about $0.053 per captioned minute at the vendor's own rate

A multi-model video and image studio from $12.00 a month billed yearly — Kling, Sora, Veo, Seedance and GPT Image behind one subscription, with the per-model credit rates on the pricing page and a refund window that ends at 50 credits.

3.9 3.9 out of 5
Starting price: $0 the free tier is 20 credits once, no card required; paid plans start at $12.00/month billed annually ($15.00 billed monthly) for Lite, and every paid tier is billed either monthly or annually with a published annual discount

Best for: Marketers and creators who want several frontier models — Veo, Sora, Kling, Seedance — behind one subscription instead of four, and who will buy monthly so the exit stays open
